Do people truly value me, or do they only value what I provide?”

  Sometimes, we need to sit quietly with ourselves and ask a difficult question: “ This question can reveal a lot about the relationships in our lives. Are people there when we need them, or only when they need us? Do they appreciate our presence, our feelings, and our heart—or mainly the things we do for them?   Sometimes, we give so much of ourselves that people become comfortable receiving. We are always available, always helping, always understanding. But the moment we step back or say “no,” their behaviour changes. That can be painful, but it can also be revealing. Your value should never depend on how useful you are to someone else. You deserve to be appreciated not only for what you do, but for who you are. So ask yourself: If I stopped giving, helping, fixing, and always being available, who would still choose to stay?
